I woke up this morning in the mood to work with Tarot. I know that this is supposed to be an Oracle Cards blog, but the option was to post my Tarot draw, or post nothing. So I decided to go ahead and post an interesting Tarot three-card draw.
Zolar’s New Astrological Tarot Fortune Telling Deck is probably the strangest Tarot deck I own. I have a used copy from the 1970s that I found on ebay a few years ago, and it did not come with any instructions. I have no idea how these cards are supposed to be used, so I’ve always treated it like any other oracle deck.
I think the oddest thing about the Zolar deck is that there are only 56 cards with images on both sides of each card. One side of each card contains a very poorly colored reproduction of a Rider-Waite Minor Arcana image, printed interpretations for both upright and reversed positions, and a corresponding playing card suit and number. On the other side of each card is either a poorly colored reproduction of a Rider-Waite Major Arcana image with printed interpretations, OR either a planetary or zodiacal image with lucky number and printed interpretations. One card has a blank back – The King of Cups. Needless to say, it’s a very interesting deck, and it requires some very crafty shuffling.
It’s impossible to draw cards randomly with this deck even with your eyes closed since the texture is different on the two sides of each card. The Minor Arcana are slick, and the Major Arcana (backs) are matte. For my draw I decided which side of the deck would be the top, and then shuffled and cut the deck into three piles (top-down). Then I flipped each pile and read the bottom card for today’s message. I ended up getting all Minor Arcana Cards all in the upright position:

- 6 of Pentacles – Benevolent aspirations prompted by good fortune and material success.
- 3 of Pentacles – Added revenue from an unexpected source. Material success.
- Knight of Cups – A young man with light brown hair and hazel eyes. Good news, and invitation to a social affair.
Oh, I like this message a lot! Good news, and an increase in money from an unexpected source, will put me in a generous mood. It looks like the added income won’t hurt my social life either.
Here’s a picture of the card backs:

Maybe I should consider playing these numbers in the lottery!
