Titania’s Fortune Cards have been on my wishlist since I first became interested in the Lenormand Oracle just after Christmas of last year. I’d heard mixed reviewed of the deck, but many successful Lenormand readers cut their teeth on the Titania cards, so I had decided it was a ‘must have’ deck. Finally last week, I won a bid on ebay for this these cards, and the deck arrived in the mail yesterday.

Although I didn’t have high expectations for the the quality of the cards themselves based on the reviews I read, I was sorely disappointed when I opened the deck. The cards are of very light-weight stock, and they have a matte finish that make them very difficult to fan out on a smooth surface. I had expected the fluorescent negative images to pack more of a punch, and was surprise by how muted the colors are in natural light.
The accompanying book is what makes the deck worth owning. Surprisingly, the book is of excellent quality. The pages are glossy and nearly as thick as the cards. It’s unfortunate that the true beauty of the deck shines through on the glossy images in the book, and not on the actual cards.
Now that I’ve finished whining, I will admit that I’ll enjoy working with these cards. In my opinion, the book is a real treasure. Titania provides a fresh perspective in her modern interpretation of the Lenormand symbols without out losing sight of the traditional meanings. My only complaint about the book is that it provides so few meanings for the card combinations that drive the Lenormand oracle. On the other hand, leaving the interpretation of the combinations to the reader’s intuition is probably not such a bad idea.
I need to spend a few days becoming familiar with the Titania cards before I attempt my first draw. I’m also looking forward to experimenting with the 7-card spread provided in the book which can be used for daily forecasts. Stay tuned…
I’m glad your Titania cards came! I sort of had a feeling you’d be a bit disappointed in the cards – they are so thin. You are right that the pages of the book are almost as thick as the cards. The book is great though. It would be nice if some publisher would redo these cards on better card stock. Titania’s Star Tarot has really thin cards as well.
Hi Sammie,
Yeah, the more I work with these cards, the more I like them–except for the fact that they’re so flimsy. I think they could be stunning if they were reprinted on good quality stock with vibrant colors. After reading some of the threads on Aeclectic Tarot forum about these cards, it seems that most people are turned off by the first impression of how cheaply they were made. I think it’s unfortunate that all of the quality went into the book and gold jacket, and the publisher skimped on the cards.
I’m sorry to hear that the Titania’s Star Tarot is of equally poor quality. I had that deck on my wishlist as well, but now I’ve decided that I wouldn’t be interested in owning it since it wouldn’t be very serviceable.
I have owned this deck since 2000, the year it was first published. It was a gift (i picked myself) for my 16th birthday. My first deck. The quality of the cards, for me, is a mute point because for one the quality is fine apart from the matt finish which I agree makes fanning harder, and two- the lovely book and casing that they come in mean that they will always be kept in excellent condition. The colours on my original deck were fine and vibrant but if you are used to really bright glossy then these may not be as striking as you are used to.
As to the substance of the deck, to use the phrase ‘cut my teeth’ on them is slightly an understatement. Not only did their simplicity and flexibility allow me to develop a strong sense of bond and intuition whilst reading with them but their accuracy allowed me two predict 2 pregnancy’s. One was my own predicted while I was 17 years old and very much single (i was pregnant with my first child 3 months later) and the second was lady who I read for’s daughter.
I love this deck, and I have recently just moved on having recieved a new deck for Christmas. I urge you to give this deck a fair shot past their appearance and they will serve you well.
Hi Alanna,
Thank you for sharing your experiences with the Tatiana’s Fortune Cards. The psychedelic images have grown on me, but I still can’t get past the matte finish. I wonder if fanning powder would help?
It seems that people either absolutely love these cards or despise them. I have had heard other people rave about how accurate they are, which was why I decided to track down a deck for my own use. Unfortunately, the tacky quality of the cards themselves has discouraged me from doing much with them.
Your comments have inspired me to give these cards another try. I’ll post my daily draws for the next few days, and see how the cards work for me. As an experienced Tatiana Fortune Card reader, please feel free to jump in with any comments you may have on my card draws.
Thanks,
Aristede

Hi there – i have recently purchased this deck and so far I am really enjoying the cards the more that I play with them … I have really enjoyed reading this website, as there seems to be more positive comments written about these cards, some of the other websites absolutely have demoralised these cards, and I don’t want to read about it!! I think they are worth a big chance and a bit of fun to boot. Many thanks, Allison
Hi Allison,
People either love or hate these cards, and there doesn’t seem to be any in between. The more I play with them, the more they continue to amaze me. I think they’re fantastic, and I don’t bother reading other people’s negative opinions of these cards either!
I’m glad you decided to stop by!
I’ve had these cards for years, but only recently started consulting them again. I’m a little rusty though, so would appreciate some help on interpreting my 9-card spread:
Line 1: Tower; Garden; Clouds
Line 2: Stork; Sun; Heart
Line 3: Scythe; Clover; Mountain
Any comments will be very happily received thanks!
